Weekend in the Woods and SYNC
Many, many thanks to our friends and neighbors, Mark and Cindy, for our fun weekend at their place on the Duck River. It’s about an hour down the road from our house so it’s the perfect “get-away” that’s still relatively close to home.
Cindy and I headed out late Friday afternoon to meet up with the guys who had been fortunate enough to leave the evening before. We had a great time just hanging out, EATING, telling funny stories, did I mention EATING, kayaking and watching our dogs chase each other around (they have a large hound mix puppy and we have a Yorkie – they were absolutely hilarious playing together – one BIG puppy and one SMALL puppy).
The guys spent most of Friday fishing with some pretty nice catches. Small and large mouth bass, I think. No “fish” stories – I saw the evidence and was impressed. Cindy and I were going to spend Saturday just chilling out, fishing, EATING, but we decided to be a little more adventurous and go kayaking with the guys. It was a lot of fun! When I think of a kayak, I think of this little bitty boat that flips over really easily. I almost have a phobia of them………however, these kayaks are not quite so intimidating – they have a really large opening for your body so that your legs can even stretch all the way out. We spent 4-5 hours on this beautiful little tributary to the Duck River. We only saw one snake (hate them!) and it was far enough away that I couldn’t tell if it was poisonous or not. Of course, those of you who know my husband, know that he cannot pass up an opportunity to “get a better look” so off he headed to see what kind of snake it was. COPPERHEAD! I remained on the bank, frozen, until it headed off to the other side. Barry took his diving gear and was able to see lots of big fish and cool things around some of the banks and rock ledges. I watched from the comfort of either the bank or my boat.
We were up at the crack of dawn on Sunday morning so we could head back for church at Crosspoint. We have a new series, SYNC, which really hits home about the addiction that many of us have to noise, chaos, technology, etc. As Pat mentioned in his comment about our TV dilemma, the timing of this series is perfect. The service was amazing – awesome video by Matt, amazing music by Jarrod and Miranda and of course, Pete never lets us down with his gift of delivering the best messages. I got to hang out with Whit and Linds for a while in the Cafe so we could catch up on everything Then, I worked in the 1 yr old class with Mrs. Wax, aka Brandi Wilson, during the 11 service. She is a lot of fun!! It was an awesome morning!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
