FUN WEEK

Sam and I just returned (last evening) from our mom/son trip to ATL.  We had a really good time, despite the heat and rain!  We saw two Braves games (they lost both), went to World of Coke, Georgia Aquarium and the Atlanta Zoo.  We had never been to World of Coke or GA Aquarium and let me just say that BOTH were really great.  I took some great pics and will try to post them soon.  There are so many other attractions in ATL, it is definitely a great place to spend a few days having fun.

I’m off to Center Hill Lake this afternoon with around 10-15 sorority sisters (ADPis from our days at MTSU).  We will relax, eat, sleep, boat, swim and maybe do some water sports.  Mostly we’ll just enjoy hanging out together without any real responsibilities for 48 hours.

Hope everyone will try to have a little bit of FUN this weekend!!

Fishing, anyone?? Poll question!!

Ok, so Sam has taken up fishing as his #1 summertime hobby. He wants to go EVERY DAY! I have never seen anything like it……….so, my question is two-fold. First, who would like to “borrow” him for a day of fishing? Ok, just kidding on that one!! ;)

The real question is actually a poll: what are your top 2 or 3 favorite PUBLIC fishing spots in the area? So far, we have only been to the Harpeth River and to Burns Park. I wouldn’t say that either of them was great, but they are both very close to the house which is important in these times of ridiculously high gas prices. Any suggestions?!

Weekend and Water

I can’t believe I haven’t posted anything since the 12th – I guess you could say that we’ve been BUSY!

Sam and I visited my family back home this weekend.  We had a great time seeing my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We ended up doing a lot of water-based activities.  Here are a few highlights:

Sam finally caught “Big Willy” the catfish.  He has gotten away several times, taken many worms and crickets and broken many lines.  Nice catch, Sambo!!  Many thanks to all of our friends who let us invade their ponds in search of the “big one”!!

Sam and Reed caught big air on the tubes at Pickwick Lake.  Reed is my first cousin (his parents are Molly and Jack and Whitney is his big sis).  He is Sam’s best friend.  They are all the coolest!!  Molly and Jack have a great boat and are great hosts.  I’ve been going to the lake with them since I was a kid.  Good times!

We had a fun family cook-out and swimming party at my Aunt Lisa and Uncle Benny’s house.  We were celebrating their daughter, my cousin, Jessica’s son Reagan’s 2nd Birthday.  We were also welcoming Reagan’s little brother, Grayson, into the fam.  He was born May 27th.  Precious boys – SO CUTE!

I caught up on some R & R and discovered that I have a new favorite author, Karen Kingsbury.  I finished her book, Between Sundays, in a record 3 days!!  :)   Can’t wait to start one of her other books!
