I was Tagged – grrrrrrrr

So, two posts in one day.  How does that happen!?  Well, I was tagged by Deb SOOOOOOOOO here goes my response to the 6 random facts about myself.  Notice I grrrrrrrrr’d this.  Only because I’m really tired right now because I keep waking up at 4:30-5:00 AM.  I need MORE SLEEP!

1.  I am an only child ( but really wanted an older brother).  My parents assured me that this wasn’t really possible.  Darn!!

2.  I LOVE junk food……..wish that I could actually live off of it and that it was healthy.

3.  I wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy (football player, NOT a cheerleader!)

4.  I grew up in a small town, Selmer, where Sheriff Buford Pusser “walked tall”.  My hometown is also infamous for Mary Winkler, who gained international coverage for killing her “preacher husband”.   If that’s not enough, my hometown also experienced a horrible car crash during a fundraiser for sick children.  At “Cars for Kids”, a drag car spun out of control into a crowd, killing 9 people.  Not events that make you proud of your hometown.  Nonetheless, it was a good place to grow up.  I was very sheltered!

5.  I love humor AND sports.  I think I missed my calling – imagine me on ESPN, laughing it up with the likes of Mike + Mike!

6.  I graduated from college in 3 1/2 years.  If I had a “do-over” I would have stayed in college as long as my parents would have let me.  Getting out into the “real world” wasn’t what I thought it would be!

Ok, I don’t really know how to “tag” people so after I figure it out, I’ll tag 6 others! ;)

Reunion Weekend!

I am SOOOOO excited – tomorrow Barry and I head out of town to my 20th HIGH SCHOOL CLASS REUNION.  I have been helping plan this big shin-dig for the past couple of months and have been hearing from and talking to friends that I haven’t seen or kept in touch with for YEARS.  I feel like this weekend will be a huge mix of what we did back then and where we are and what we’re doing now.  I hope that we will stay closer now that technology allows such wonderful means of communication.  I hope to post some pics by early next week……..maybe even a pic of me in 1988 and now.  Scary!!

I will let you in on a funny, sort of embarrasing secret about me.  I often took on the role of mother figure to many of my guy friends.  You know, sort of guiding them through how they should act and what they should and shouldn’t do so that led to a really crazy nickname:  McGruff.  Does anyone remember “McGruff the Crime Dog”??  His motto was “take a bit out of crime”.  Hilarious, I know!!

Does anyone have an embarrassing or funny nickname?  I would LOVE to know about it!

Friday Update/Prayer Request

I have good news to report on Teresa Bradley. She has made steady improvements all week and her doctors are pleased with her progression. She still has a VERY LONG road to recovery. They are slowly taking her off of many of her meds but she still is sedated due to pain. She will be slowly weaned off of the ventilator so I guess you could say that they are taking it slow but steady with her. Her recovery looked somewhat bleak there for a short time so this steady improvement is truly God’s hand of healing.

I would like to ask for prayers for her continued healing, as well as strength for her husband, David and her two sons, Chip and Max. They will have to somewhat try to resume “normal” life soon. David is a dentist and has only been to his practice a short time in the past 3+ weeks. Max is in high-school and will have to start back soon. Chip is in college at MTSU. They have always been one of the busiest families I have ever known so this series of events has been a true challenge. They have established a site for her on Carepages.com if anyone would like to keep up with her healing and progress. Thanks again for the many prayers that you have lifted up for them!

Update on Urgent Prayer Request

THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who has been praying for Teresa.  The prayers are working so keep them coming.  I am getting text message updates from my aunt and uncle around 2-4 times a day.  Today, she had improved vitals, less swelling and they were able to change around some of her meds so that her body is able to function more normally.  She’s still very critical, but there has been definite improvement the past two days.  Thank you again and her family says a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has lifted them up.  They have certainly felt it.

Weekend and Water

I can’t believe I haven’t posted anything since the 12th – I guess you could say that we’ve been BUSY!

Sam and I visited my family back home this weekend.  We had a great time seeing my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We ended up doing a lot of water-based activities.  Here are a few highlights:

Sam finally caught “Big Willy” the catfish.  He has gotten away several times, taken many worms and crickets and broken many lines.  Nice catch, Sambo!!  Many thanks to all of our friends who let us invade their ponds in search of the “big one”!!

Sam and Reed caught big air on the tubes at Pickwick Lake.  Reed is my first cousin (his parents are Molly and Jack and Whitney is his big sis).  He is Sam’s best friend.  They are all the coolest!!  Molly and Jack have a great boat and are great hosts.  I’ve been going to the lake with them since I was a kid.  Good times!

We had a fun family cook-out and swimming party at my Aunt Lisa and Uncle Benny’s house.  We were celebrating their daughter, my cousin, Jessica’s son Reagan’s 2nd Birthday.  We were also welcoming Reagan’s little brother, Grayson, into the fam.  He was born May 27th.  Precious boys – SO CUTE!

I caught up on some R & R and discovered that I have a new favorite author, Karen Kingsbury.  I finished her book, Between Sundays, in a record 3 days!!  :)   Can’t wait to start one of her other books!
